Guess who’s finishing up her third year of grad school 🙄 Went to a conference in Atlanta early this month and presented my poster. I need to remember to always wear shoes that I know are comfy and not shoes that I think will be comfy. I bought these cute flats in April and I assumed they’d be fine, but of course they won’t be. Aside from that, the trip was okay. Anyway I keep telling myself (and you guys) that I’ll post more but I never do. No excuses here but I just keep forgetting 🤷♀️ lol.
Passive aggressive thank yous
Inside joke acknowledgements
Jokes in footnotes
Unacknowledged puns
Saucy comments like “as much as researchers would like this to be the case..”
Random trivia in footnotes
Unnecessary appendices (songs listened to while writing, lists of weird historical events, etc)
Citations of yourself, because goals
Unnecessary citations of your academic friends
Song lyric quotes in italics as chapter openings
What else you got? Looking to spice this document up.
Kinesine. (anterograde microtubuli-associated transport protein)
When your head hits the pillow tonight, remind yourself that you’ve done a good job. You are headed down your path at your own pace, and with every obstacle you are trying your utmost best. Be patient with yourself, and remember that big things are achieved not all at once, but one day at a time.
The essence of grad school is crossing one item off your to-do list, then adding five more
80% of science is just waiting for things to happen…
On a scale from mild inconvenience to destroy a mass spectrometer, what’s the worst that can happen?
